- Description:

- ObjStart allows any DOS or Windows based viewer to be executed from within the
- IBM Web Explorer. Other object start utilities for Web Explorer require the use of a
- seperate utility to return an Object Handle, and the use of an external OS/2 REXX
- command program to execute the object starter.

- System Requirements:

- One of the following
- OS/2 Warp Connect v3.0 with TCPIP installed.
- OS/2 Warp v3.0 with Internet Access Kit installed.

- IBM Web Explorer v1.3
- 16mb RAM recommended

- Installation Instructions.
-
- 1. Copy ObjStart.EXE to a directory.
- ( I recommend the directory <boot drive>:\viewer\bin
-
- 2. Copy the sample MAILCAP.MAP file to <boot drive>:\tcpip\etc
- ( This file has a sample entry for a quicktime viewer. Change the boot drive letter
- ( to point to your OS/2 boot drive.

- 3. Copy the sample EXTMAP.EXT file to <boot drive>:\tcpip\etc
- ( This file has a sample entry for a quicktime viewer.

- 4. Shutdown Web Explorer if you have not done so already.
-
- 5. Edit your EXPLORE.INI file to make the following changes.
- ( from:

- ( extmap=

- ( to:
- (
- ( mailcap=<boot drive>:\tcpip\etc\mailcap.cap
- ( extmap=<boot drive>:\tcpip\etc\extmap.ext

- 6. Start your Web Explorer program.

- 7. Click on the CONFIGURE menu item.
-
- 8. Click on the VIEWERS... menu item.
-
- THE FOLLOWING STEPS ARE FOR SETTING UP QUICKTIME, SETUPS FOR OTHER VIEWERS ARE SIMILIAR.

- 9. Scroll down to the listbox entry for TYPE and select the QT/MOV QUICKTIME VIDEO entry.

- 10. Place the cursor in the PROGRAM field box and type the following.
- ( <boot drive>:\viewer\bin\ObjStart.exe
-
- 11. Click on the OK button.
-
- 12. Open up your WINOS2 folder, you can find it in the <BOOT DRIVE OBJECT>/OS2/MDOS folder.

- 13. Find the PLAYER.EXE program object.
-
- 14. Left click on the PLAYER.EXE program object to bring up its system menu.

- 15. Click on the SETTINGS menu item to open up the Settings Notebook.
-
- 16. Click on the Associations Tab in the notebook.
-
- 17. Place the cursor in the NEW NAME field box and type the following.
- ( *.MOV then click on the ADD button.
- ( *.QT then click on the ADD button.

- 18. Close the Settings Notebook.

- 19. Startup you Web Explorer and find a QuickTime movie to download and test.
